IS BIGGER BEST IN WOMEN'S BODYBUILDING ?
IS BIGGER BEST IN WOMEN'S BODYBUILDING ?
The answer to the question in the title of this article could be answered with a simple...or maybe not so simple..... NO!
With the NPC Nationals just finished for 2011, the question was raised to me again as it has been for many years. Is it better to be bigger? Should I be the biggest in the heavyweight class to be noticed? Is size really important? Don't heavyweights always seem to win the overall. Don't you have to be big to ever hope to be competitive in the pro ranks? And of course all of the above mentioned questions depend on just what an individual perceives as 'big'.

The Return of Zoa Linsey: Heading To The Arnold: 9 Week Out
9 weeks & 2 days pre-show! Putting into words what being invited to the Ms. International 2012 means to me this year is nearly impossible. After my sudden neck herniation I suffered 2 days before the Ms. Olympia 2010, then the resultant neck fusion surgery 2 weeks later and the long-term recovery process, I had no guarantees that I would ever return to the stage. I hunted high and low for other athletes with a similar situation and found virtually nothing!

Eccentric Contractions and Muscle Hypertrophy
Eccentric Contractions and Muscle Hypertrophy
First off lets define the two terms that we are looking at prior to examining their connection and relevance to the progression of your training. An eccentric contraction is the part of the movement in an exercise in which the muscle is contracting but lengthening simultaneously. This is opposed to a concentric contraction in which the muscle is shortening while contracting. Contrary to popular belief the eccentric contraction is actually damage within the muscle. This muscle damage is actually necessary for muscle hypertrophy.

Danielle Destroys The Road To The Arnold: Blog 1
Last year I watched the IFBB Fitness girls compete at the Arnold Classic. I was on the edge of my seat in awe. More than anything I wanted to be up there with them! I made a promise to myself that I was going to make it there…one day
Little did I know it was going to be the very next year! I worked so hard this past year. I tried for my pro card at the CBBF National Championships and just missed placing 2nd in the Overall. I wasn’t going to miss it again. I continued to work my butt of and won my pro card at the IFBB North Americans.

Muscle Fiber Type
Muscle Fiber Type
Moving away from my tendency to speak about the biomechanics of weightlifting and such, I will this time talk about some exercise physiology that I believe you may find interesting. I’ll say it now, I’m a bodybuilder by day and a nerd by night. I truly enjoy the science behind the sport. It intrigues me to see how intricately the body works and how I can change my body by diet and exercise. Anyways, for this article I want to talk about the two types of muscle fibers, slow twitch (Type I) fibers and fast twitch (Type II) fibers.

Candice Keene Back In Prep.....
Candice Keene Back In Prep..........
Hey guys!
Well, I am about two weeks into my prep now and am feeling quite fantastic actually! The week before I started, I mentally prepped myself so the first week wouldn’t be so bad. For me, it usually takes me a good week to two weeks to get back in routine and for my cravings to go away. I also have found myself to be in really good spirits since Day 1 of my prep, so this I believe, will determine how my final outcome will be. Have a positive attitude people! As this produces positive results.:)

The Science of Beauty?
The Science of Beauty?
This post if for the scientific minded makeup enthusiasts out there… I have alluded to MANY clients about the balance of their brows. It ALL relates to symmetry… (see below) Makeup is ART but also science. There was a big study which assessed that a person is attractive because of their symmetry. See the findings of surgeon Stephen Marquadt here…

Angular Motion:
A Lesson in Physics, biomechanics and A Bit Of Ranting
This article may be a little over your head and quite frankly it is a little over mine too but that’s precisely why I’m writing it. Let me explain. I am currently a college student immersed in classes, which require studying… lots of studying. I am a huge advocate for education in every aspect of life and most importantly in the sense of training, more specifically proper training. So, I’m gonna kill two birds with one stone here. I am going to write about some biomechanical principles and apply them to weight training so that you can use them to help your training in various ways. They are rather simple when broken down and are very important for training and everyone could benefit from simply reading. So here we go…
